How to pass a prop firm evaluation

1. Know your package's numbers before the first trade

Every evaluation is a short list of numbers: the profit target, the maximum loss (drawdown), the daily loss limit, any consistency rule, the minimum number of trading days and the time you must be flat by. They differ by firm, plan and account size — even two 50K accounts can work very differently. Here is the package with the most live passes at each firm in the PropPass directory:

2. Treat the daily loss limit as a hard line

Measure each day's loss from the start of the firm's trading day, and count open positions — most firms include unrealised losses. Plan to finish a bad day well inside the limit rather than at it, so one more trade cannot end the day or the account.

3. Know which way your drawdown trails

An end-of-day trailing drawdown moves up only from closing balances; an intraday trailing drawdown follows the highest balance during the day, including open profit; a static drawdown never moves. With a trailing drawdown, every new high raises the line you cannot touch — so giving back open profit can matter as much as a loss.

4. Respect the consistency rule

If the package has one, a single big day can block the pass or raise the profit target. Check the best-day share before treating the target as reached.

5. Be flat before the cut-off

Each firm sets a time by which every position must be closed (see "Flat by" above). Being in a trade at the cut-off can mean an automatic close at a bad price or a rule break.

6. Check the firm's news rules

How do PropPass strategies and bots work?

Can I get alerts for these strategies?
Yes. Each PropPass strategy can send its alerts on the web, by Telegram and SMS, and as iPhone and Android push notifications — or it can run on your own NinjaTrader.
What is a prop firm evaluation?
A prop firm evaluation (also called a challenge or combine) is a simulated account with a profit target and loss limits. Reach the target without touching the maximum loss or breaking the firm's other rules and you qualify for a funded account. In PropPass's researched rule files the profit target runs from 2% to 20% of the account size (median 6%).
Does PropPass pass evaluations for you?
No one logs into your account. PropPass provides strategies and bots with a recorded live pass/fail record: you run one on your own NinjaTrader account, or follow its alerts and place the trades yourself, and PropPass watches your account's limits every session.

More questions traders ask

What is a trailing drawdown?
A trailing drawdown is a maximum-loss level that moves up behind the account balance. With an end-of-day trailing drawdown it rises only from closing balances; with an intraday trailing drawdown it rises with the highest balance reached during the day, open profit included; a static drawdown never moves. Of the 225 evaluation packages in PropPass's researched firm rules, 182 use end-of-day trailing, 25 intraday trailing and 14 static.
Which prop firm evaluations have no daily loss limit?
Among the firms with live passes on PropPass, these evaluation plans have no daily loss limit in the firms' published rules (each still has a maximum loss): Apex Trader Funding: Apex Intraday Trail, Apex Legacy Full (limited-time promotion); BluSky Trading: Launch, Orbit, Propel; FundedNext Futures: Flex, Legacy, Rapid Pro; Lucid Trading: LucidMaxx; My Funded Futures: Pro, Pro (One-Day Add-On), Rapid, Rapid EOD; Take Profit Trader: Test-PRO; Tradeify: Select Daily, Select Flex.
What is a prop firm consistency rule?
A consistency rule limits how much of the total profit can come from a single day — for example, the best day may be at most 50% of the profit. Some firms block the pass until the rule is met, others raise the profit target. Firms with live passes on PropPass that use one in at least one evaluation plan: BluSky Trading, FundedNext Futures, Lucid Trading, My Funded Futures, Take Profit Trader, Topstep, Tradeify.
How do you pass a prop firm challenge?
Know your package's numbers (profit target, maximum loss, daily loss limit, consistency, minimum days), keep each day's loss well inside the daily limit, respect the trailing drawdown, be flat before the firm's cut-off and follow its news rules. Across the PropPass directory, live passes took a median of 2 trading days.
