How a funded futures account works

1. Evaluation. You buy an evaluation (also called a challenge or combine): a simulated account with a profit target and loss limits.

2. Funded account. Pass it and the firm gives you a funded account — at most futures prop firms a simulated account that still has a maximum loss and its own rules.

3. Payouts. Profit on the funded account is paid out under the firm's payout rules: a profit split (the trader's share), a minimum payout, and a number of trading or profitable days between payouts.

Across the 8 firms in PropPass's rule files, the profit split on funded accounts runs from 80% to 100% to the trader.
